Q: What made you want to start running cross country?
A: I wanted to start running cross country because I felt it would help me with my endurance during track, and it was an opportunity to be involved in a sport outside of the spring.
Q: Who is your biggest inspiration for running?
A: My biggest inspiration for running is Eliud Kipchoge. Even though he runs marathons, he really shows that nobody is limited in running.
Q: When did you start cross country?
A: I started running cross country my sophomore year.
Q: What’s your least favorite thing about running?
A: My least favorite thing about running is getting injured.
Q: Do you plan to run in college?
A: As of now, I don’t plan to run for a college program but I will run recreationally. I plan to go to Iowa State for college.
Q: What’s your favorite thing about cross country?
A: My favorite thing about cross country is the meets because I get a chance to show off the hard work I had been putting in during practice and I get a chance to compete with the best distance runners in the state.
Q: Do you run outside of practice?
A: During the season, no; during the off-season, running is usually considered practice for me.
Q: What is your personal record?
A: My 5K personal record is 16:08.
Q: What’s your favorite memory from cross country?
A: My favorite memory from cross country is qualifying for the state meet individually this year. I ran a pretty fast time on a hard course which I am proud of. (Our home course)
Q: What advice would you give to anyone considering cross country for next year?
A: If I gave advice to anyone considering cross country, I would tell them to stay consistent. The most important part about becoming good at cross country is to just run a lot and don’t take frequent breaks.
