Q: When did you start playing soccer?

A: I started playing soccer when I was 10 years old. I played at VSA in Waukee, up until junior year where I went to Iowa Storm.

Q: What do you like about being on the soccer team?

A: I enjoy the atmosphere on the field and how everyone is able to come together to play as a team. We work hard as a team and celebrate every little success together.

Q: How much time goes into practicing and preparing for games?

A:We practice every week day from 7:00 – 8:30pm, some of us even stay for a while after practice to get in extra touches. On game days we play music on the bus and in the locker room as a pre game ritual to get us pumped up and prepared for the game.

Q: What have you learned from playing soccer?

A: Soccer has taught me how to become a better student athlete. I have learned how to balance my day to day schedule in order to get school work done and attend all of my practices and games. I have gained responsibility and organization skills because of soccer.

Q: What is one of your favorite memories from soccer?

A: One of my favorite memories is when we played Waukee at home my freshman year and I ended up scoring a header to tie the score. Normally I am so in the zone that I don’t hear anything in the stands but for that particular game I heard every one cheering. I felt so overwhelmed by my teammates rushing to me and the fans cheering, it was truly an exceptional moment. We ended up going into overtime and losing in penalty kicks but everyone was so proud of how we played. After that game I felt like we became closer as a team and it was amazing to see everyone so happy.

Q: Do you plan to play soccer in college?

I plan to continue my soccer career in college.
