Orange Cookie Recipe
Toss out your basic apple pies and pumpkin spice lattes! This orange cookie recipe is unique and delicious. My family and I make this every fall and it is always something we look forward to. Enjoy!
Cookie Ingredients
- 1 ¼ c sugar
- ¾ c shortening
- 2 eggs (beaten)
- 1 c milk
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 2 tsp Baking powder
- 2 oranges
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 3 ½ c flour
Directions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
- In a large mixing bowl, mix together sugar, powder, soda, and vanilla.
- Using a cheese grater, collect the rind of one orange and add into the mixture.
- Slice the orange, squeeze the juice out and mix in.
- Add shortening and flour.
- Mix and smash together until there are no lumps.
- Add more flour if mixture is runny (it should be somewhat thick).
- Place ping pong sized balls on a cookie sheet spaced about 2 inches from each other.
- Place in oven for 12-15 minutes.
Icing Ingredients
- One orange
- 1 T butter
- Powdered sugar
Directions
- In a medium mixing bowl, place the juice and rind of other orange.
- Add butter.
- Mix in powdered sugar until the mixture is thick.
- Spread icing onto cookies (make sure they are cool!) until the entire surface area is covered.
