Q: What grade are you in?

A: Senior.

Q: What instrument(s) do you play?

A: Alto Sax, Tenor Sax, Bass Clarinet, and Contrabass Clarinet.

Q: What bands are you a part of?

A: Marching Band, Wind Ensemble, Jazz 2, Show Band, Pit Orchestra.

Q: When did you start playing in a band?

A: Fifth grade.

Q: On average, how many hours do you put towards the band program?

A: 15 hours all together, with practicing contra and conducting.

Q: Do you plan on participating in a band after high school?

A: I plan to go on with a Music degree at Iowa State and participate in the ISU Marching Band (hopefully become a drum major eventually).

Q: How has being a part of the band program affected your life?

A: I’ve met so many people that have become my best friends because of band. It’s always been the people who play with me every morning that make me laugh, give me a shoulder to cry on, and keep me going every day. Mrs. Meunier and Mr. Gerth have provided me with so much guidance and love throughout these four years and I would not be the person I am today without them.

Q: What is one of your favorite memories from being in the band program and why?

A: My favorite memory from being in band was doing my leadership project with my friend Jake Atzen for my sophomore year. It was really fun to clean and fix up all the things in the band hallway and spending hours bonding and having fun with it.

Q: What is your favorite thing about being a part of the band program?

A: My favorite thing about being in band is being able to put everything together and make music. The feeling of being whole with everyone around you and knowing you have the same passion and focus for the same thing is one of the best feelings out there.
