A: 2008.

Q: What is your favorite thing about your job?

A: Being around people.

Q: What do you love about Southeast Polk (the community, school, etc.)?

A: The community.

Q: Where did you work before Southeast Polk?

A: I was a manager at Marsden Building Maintenance.

Q: What is the most interesting part of your job?

A: Learning new things; a lot of things happen around here that cause extra work.

Q: What do you wish students knew about your job?

A: Being the facility manager, I make sure everything is working well: the AC and heating, lots of things like that. I fix broken things or hire some else to fix it and I train all my employees if they’re new to the job, which is interesting.

Q: Why did you choose to work at Southeast Polk?

A: Family and benefits.

Q: What are your favorite things to do while you’re not at work?

A: Ride motorcycles and go fishing.

Q: What are you planning to do when you retire?

A: Riding motorcycles and travel. Our first trip is Route 66 from Chicago to LA.

A note to the employees and SEP community: “My employees don’t work for me, they work with me, as one team, and I will miss the Southeast Polk Community very much.” -Ray Modlin
